Sometimes, you may notice that the Days Cover Committed (DCC) values in the "Orders" column and the "Items" column do not match. In this article, we’ll explain why this happens and how you can ensure the most accurate data by recalculating orders.
What are Days Cover Committed
The DCC calculates for how many days, the stock on hand plus incoming orders will last. The calculation translates units to days based on the sales forecast or the upcoming demand.
DCC in orders
The DCC value in the Orders column is calculated when the order was first created. It reflects the stock levels and consumption rate at the time the order was processed. Since this value is tied to the specific point when the order was placed, it doesn’t automatically update over time.
DCC in items
The Items column, on the other hand, shows the DCC as of today. This value is calculated on a daily basis, based on the current inventory and consumption rates, offering a more up-to-date view of how long your committed stock will last.
Why is DCC in orders and DCC in items not showing the same value?
The discrepancy between these two columns exists because the DCC in the Orders column is not automatically updated daily. Instead, it remains based on the data available when the order was created or re-calculated, while the DCC in Items reflects today’s data. Therefore, the values can differ.
To update the order columns, you’ll need to manually recalculate the orders.
By selecting the order line and clicking the "Recalculate" button, you’ll refresh the data, and the DCC in Orders will reflect the current inventory and consumption rates, just like the DCC in Items.
