This article covers how to connect an AI tool to the AGR MCP server. To see what you can ask once you're connected, go to AI Connector - Available tools.
đ Before you begin
Each user needs an AGR account.
An AGR administrator must enable MCP connections for the organization. See Step 1 below.
You need permission to add the AGR MCP server in your AI tool:
Claude: On Free, Pro, and Max plans, you can add it yourself. Free plans are limited to one custom connector. On Team plans, an Owner or Primary Owner must add it. On Enterprise plans, an Owner, Primary Owner, or a user with a custom role that includes Manage access to Libraries must add it.
ChatGPT: On Business and Enterprise plans, a workspace admin or owner must add it. Availability on other plans varies.
Microsoft 365 Copilot: You need permission to create and edit agents in Copilot Studio.
đ How to connect
Your AGR AI Connector address is your normal AGR URL with /mcp added to the end.
For example: https://yourcompany.agrinventory.net/mcp
âď¸ Step 1: Enable MCP connections for your organization
Before users can connect their AI tools, an AGR administrator must enable MCP connections for the organization.
In AGR
Go to Settings > User Management > MCP Connections.
Turn on Allow MCP connections.
This is a one-time, organization-wide setting. Until it is enabled, users cannot connect an AI tool to AGR.
đ¤ Step 2: Add the AGR MCP server to your AI tool
Note: These steps may change and can differ depending on the AI tool, its version, and your configuration. If what you see doesn't match, check the AI tool's own documentation for current setup and troubleshooting steps.
Claude
For Claude.ai and Claude Desktop, an admin must add the AGR MCP server as a connector for the organization before other users can connect.
In Claude:
Go to Settings > Connectors.
Select Add custom connector.
Enter a name, for example AGR.
Enter your organization's MCP Server URL ending in
/mcp.Select Continue.

Select Add.
When the connector has been added in Claude, other AGR users can connect:
Go to Settings > Connectors > Yours.
Search for the connection name, for example AGR.
Select Connect.
You will be redirected to AGR. Select Authorize.
When a user connects to the connector they are prompted to sign in and authorize. A user only sees the data their AGR role allows.
ChatGPT
For ChatGPT, an admin must add the AGR MCP server as a plugin for the workspace before other users can connect.
In ChatGPT:
Go to Plugins in the sidebar.
Select Add > Add Custom MCP server.
Enter a name, for example AGR.
Enter your organization's MCP Server URL ending in
/mcp.Select Authentication: OAuth.
Select Create Plugin.

Microsoft 365 Copilot
You can add the AGR MCP server to a Copilot Studio agent and publish the agent to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Copilot.
Before you begin, you must have permission to create and edit agents in Copilot Studio.
Add the AGR MCP server to an agent
In Copilot Studio, create a new agent or open an existing one.
Open Tools and select Add > Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Enter a server name, for example AGR.
Enter a server description, for example:
â"AGR inventory optimization and demand planning. Use for questions about items and stock levels, forecasts and demand, sale history, purchase orders and order proposals, vendors and locations, promotions and sales plans, and reports."
The agent uses this description to decide when to call AGR.Enter your organization's MCP Server URL ending in
/mcp.Select Authentication: OAuth 2.0 and Configuration type: Dynamic (with discovery).
Select Add.
In Select a connection, select Connection > Create new connection > Create.
You will be redirected to AGR. Select Authorize.
Select Add.
The connection you created is now visible in the agent's Tools section.
Publish the agent to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Copilot
With the agent open in Copilot Studio:
Publish the agent.
Go to Channels > Add a channel > Teams + Microsoft 365.
Choose Available in: Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Teams.
Select Add channel.
The first time someone uses the agent they are prompted to sign in to AGR and authorize. A user only sees the data their AGR role allows.
Note: The AGR MCP server is currently tested and primarily supported with Claude. If you run into issues with another AI tool, let us know.
đ§ Give your AI assistant AGR knowledge
The AGR MCP gives your AI assistant access to your AGR data. The AGR Knowledge Base skill teaches it how AGR works, so it explains your data using the official AGR documentation instead of general inventory knowledge.
Download agr-knowledge-base-v1.0.zip from the attachments at the bottom of this article.
Your assistant needs web access to read the AGR Knowledge Base. If your organization restricts web access, allow docs.agrinventory.help.
Claude
For your whole organization (Team and Enterprise plans, organization owners):
Go to Organization settings > Skills.
Upload
agr-knowledge-base-v1.0.zip.
The skill is now available to everyone in your organization.
For yourself only:
Go to Customize > Skills.
Select +, then Create skill > Upload a skill.
Upload
agr-knowledge-base-v1.0.zip.
Claude uses the skill automatically when you ask about AGR. Make sure web search is turned on.
ChatGPT
Standalone skills currently work in the ChatGPT desktop app.
Open the ChatGPT desktop app and select Skills in the sidebar.
Upload
agr-knowledge-base-v1.0.zip.
ChatGPT uses the skill automatically when you ask about AGR. To use it manually, type @ in your message and select agr-knowledge-base.
Microsoft Copilot Studio
Copilot Studio agents don't use skill files. Add the AGR Knowledge Base as a knowledge source and paste a short instruction instead.
1. Add knowledge sources
In your agent, go to Knowledge > Add knowledge > Public websites and add these URLs:
2. Add instructions
Paste this text into your agent's Instructions:
AGR Inventory uses inventory terms with AGR-specific meanings. When the user asks how AGR works, what an AGR term means, how AGR calculates something (forecast, total demand, safety stock, order quantities), or how to do something in AGR, answer only from the AGR Knowledge Base sources and link the article you used. Don't answer from general inventory knowledge. When the user asks about their own items, orders or vendors, use the AGR MCP tools for the data and the Knowledge Base to explain it. If the Knowledge Base doesn't cover the question, say so and suggest contacting AGR support.
Keep it up to date
We update the skill when the AGR Knowledge Base changes. To update, upload the new version and remove the old one.
