Overview
Max Stock sets an upper limit on the suggested order quantity. When Use Max Stock to cap order suggestions is enabled, the standard AGR order logic calculates the replenishment need and then limits the order so that the resulting stock does not exceed the specified Max Stock level.
The Max Stock level is displayed on the item card once it has been configured.
This option is useful when you want to limit inventory levels without using a fixed Reorder Point trigger.
How it works
To use Max Stock as a cap:
Enter a value in Max Stock.
Leave Reorder Point empty.
Enable the Use Max Stock to cap order suggestions setting.
AGR first calculates the suggested order quantity using the standard order logic:
Demand for the Order Period + Safety Stock + Minimum Display Stock − Stock on Hand − Undelivered Orders = Calculated Quantity
The calculated quantity is then adjusted for:
Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)
Order Multiple (OM)
Max Stock (when Use Max Stock to cap order suggestions is enabled)
If the calculated order would increase the stock above the Max Stock level, the suggested quantity is reduced accordingly.
Example
Setting | Value |
Max Stock | 100 |
Stock on Hand | 40 |
Undelivered Orders | 20 |
Calculated Order Quantity | 60 |
Without Max Stock, the suggested order would be 60 units, resulting in 120 units in stock.
With Ensure Max Stock enabled, the order is reduced to 40 units, bringing the stock level to the configured maximum of 100.
Important considerations
Max Stock only acts as an upper limit. It does not determine when an item should be reordered.
The standard AGR order logic is still used to calculate the replenishment need.
Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) and Order Multiple (OM) rules are still applied.
Note: If the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) is greater than the Max Stock level, the suggested order quantity will be 0, as the system cannot create an order that satisfies both constraints.
How do I enable Max stock level?
To enable this feature, go to Settings > Orders and enable Use Max Stock to Cap Order Suggestions.
Setting the Max Stock level
The Max Stock value can be configured for individual items or updated for multiple items at once.
Item Info
To configure Max Stock for a single item:
Open Items.
Select the item.
Open Item Info > Order Logic.
Enter the desired Max Stock value.
The Order Logic section contains the settings that influence how order proposals are calculated for the selected item. Item-level values override the global defaults.
Bulk Update
To apply the same Max Stock value to multiple items:
Go to Items.
Select the items to update.
Click Bulk Update.
Under Order Logic Settings, enter the Max Stock value.
Apply the update.
Bulk Update is useful when you need to maintain the same Max Stock level across multiple items or override values imported from your ERP system.
