Overview
AGR calculates the estimated stock development for every item in each location for the upcoming year.
The future stock estimation can be found in the item card chart & grid & in Sales plan for multiple items. It forms the input to the AGR purchase plans, either towards a vendor or to the warehouse, depending on the location type.
The calculations take several order parameters into account:
Current stock levels
Undelivered orders
Total demand, which consists of:
Sales forecast
Sales orders, depending on the Sales orders setting.
Promotions and/or Sales plan, if the user has inserted values in the AGR system
Demand from other locations
Bill of Material (BOM) demand
Lead time
Order schedule or frequency
Order Coverage days
Order multiples
Minimum order quantities (MOQ)
Min stock
Note!
The list above may or may not apply to your company's parameters, if for example MOQ doesn't have a value then it has no impact on the calculations.
Why is it useful
For Sharing purchase plans with vendors or the warehouse
For estimating stock volume into the future
For estimating if the order parameters are optimal.
As a purchaser, the stock estimation gives a sanity check on whether the order parameters are correctly set in the system. For example, if the system predicts a small frequent stock deliveries, it may indicate that the order schedule / coverage could be higher. Similarly, unexpected overstock predictions could highlight issues with high minimum order quantities compared to demand forecasts.
Can I see projected stock levels for specific dates across multiple SKUs?
Yes — the best way to do this in AGR is through Plans → Sales Plans in advanced mode. This lets you view estimated stock for a specific date (or range of dates) across as many items as you need, all in one view.
Step 1 — Open Sales Plans in advanced mode
Go to Plans in the navigation bar and select Sales Plans. Click the rocket icon (Advanced mode) in View Settings. Note: advanced mode requires admin user rights.
Step 2 — Add the estimated stock data series
In View Settings, add the data series you need:
Estimated Stock — shows projected stock based on current on-hand stock and undelivered incoming orders.
Estimated Stock with Purchase Plans — shows the full year-ahead projection including future purchase orders as AGR calculates them today.
Add both if you want to compare the two views.
Step 3 — Set your date
The default time period is 12 months rolling. if you want to see stock on hand to day, as in the picture above, the period must start in month 0, which returns the current month.
If you are looking for a specific time period, you can use the date filter to select specific dates:
Set the period to Day
Untick Rolling to open the calendar and select a fixed date rather than a relative one
Step 4 — Filter to your SKUs
Use Filters → to filter on the specific items you want to work with:
Item No filter
Click the filter dropdown and select items one by one, or
Click the two paper icons (paste list) to paste in a list of item numbers in bulk
Item group filter
select one or more item groups
Primary Vendor
select the vendors you want to estimate, you can also use the drill down filter on top
Location filter
If you are working with SKU/location combinations, add a Location filter to make sure you are looking at the right stock for the right location.
The view will then show your estimated stock values for the selected time peroid, for each of the items in your filtered list. You can export this to Excel from the view if needed.
