Bring your AGR data into the AI tool you already use.
The AGR AI Connector lets you securely connect AGR to supported AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot. Once connected, you can ask everyday questions about your AGR data and get answers directly in your AI tool — without having to navigate through AGR to find the information yourself.
For example, you could ask:
What is the current stock of item X across all locations?
Show me all AA-classified items.
Which open orders have been manually overridden?
What open sales orders do we have for customer X?
🤖 What is the AGR AI Connector?
The AGR AI Connector gives supported AI tools secure access to your AGR data.
Behind the scenes, the connector runs on AGR's MCP Server, using Model Context Protocol (MCP) — an open standard that allows AI tools to connect to external systems and data.
You don't need to understand MCP to use the connector. Simply connect AGR to your preferred AI tool and start asking questions.
Read-only access
The AGR AI Connector is currently read-only. This means you can ask questions and retrieve information, but your AI tool cannot make changes in AGR.
For example, it cannot currently:
Create or confirm orders
Update order schedules
Change item settings or Max Stock values
Write access is planned for a future release.
Your existing AGR permissions still apply
The connector respects your existing AGR user role and permissions.
You can only access information through your AI tool that you are already allowed to access in AGR. For example, if your AGR role does not give you access to order data, you won't be able to retrieve order data through the AI Connector either.
🔌 How to connect
Your AGR AI Connector address is your normal AGR URL with /mcp added to the end.
For example: https://yourcompany.agrinventory.net/mcp
Step 1: Enable MCP connections for your organization
Before users can connect their AI tools, an AGR administrator must enable MCP connections for the organization.
Go to: Settings > User Management > MCP Connections
Turn on Allow MCP connections.
This is a one-time, organization-wide setting. Until it is enabled, users cannot connect an AI tool to AGR.
Step 2: Add AGR to your AI tool
Connecting with Claude
In Claude:
Go to Settings > Connectors.
Select Add custom connector.
Enter a name, for example AGR.
Enter your organization's AGR AI Connector address ending in
/mcp.Select Add.
Other MCP-compatible AI tools, such as ChatGPT or Copilot, offer similar options for adding custom connectors or MCP servers.
Enter the same AGR AI Connector address when setting up the connection.
Note: We currently test and primarily support the connector with Claude. If you experience issues with another AI tool, we'd like to hear about them.
Step 3: Sign in to AGR
After adding the connector, you'll be asked to sign in with your AGR account.
Signing in confirms your identity and ensures that your existing AGR permissions are applied to the connection.
Once authenticated, you're ready to start asking questions about your AGR data.
If your organization has already added AGR as a connector at workspace level, you may not need to add it yourself. Check with your administrator first.
🔎 What information can I access?
The AGR AI Connector can currently provide access to information including:
Items — item details, column data, activity logs, sales history, Sales Plans and demand.
Item searches — find items matching specific criteria, such as all items with an AA classification.
Orders — orders in progress, when they were generated, order lines, order origin and manual overrides.
Order schedules — information about your scheduled orders.
Undelivered orders and open sales orders.
Reports — report lists, filters and the items included in reports.
Locations and vendors.
This is not an exhaustive list. The information available through the connector will continue to expand with future releases.
Remember that your AGR permissions determine what information you can access.
💬 Example questions
Here are some examples of questions you can ask your AI tool after connecting AGR:

"What open sales orders do we have for customer X?" | A list of open sales orders for that customer available to you in AGR. |
"Find all items classified as AA in AGR." | A list of items currently assigned an AA classification. |
"How many open orders have been overridden?" | The number of open orders where the AGR-calculated proposal has been manually adjusted. |
These are just examples. You can ask questions naturally and combine different criteria depending on the information you're looking for.
The exact answer will depend on your AGR data, your permissions and how the question is phrased.
🔐 Managing AI connections
AGR administrators can manage connections from:
Settings > User Management > MCP Connections
This page shows the active connections between AGR users and AI tools.
Each connection displays information such as:
User
Connected AI tool
AGR role
Connection date
If the same user connects multiple AI tools, such as Claude and ChatGPT, each connection is shown separately.
Revoke a connection
To remove access, select Revoke next to the connection.
Access is removed immediately. If the user wants to connect again later, they will need to add the connector and authenticate with AGR again.
⚠️ A note on AI-generated answers
The AGR AI Connector provides your AI tool with access to AGR data, but the AI tool itself generates the response.
AGR does not control how a third-party AI tool interprets your question or presents the information it receives.
AI-generated answers can sometimes be incomplete or incorrectly interpreted. For important decisions — particularly those affecting orders, inventory or customers — we recommend verifying the underlying information in AGR before taking action.
Your conversations with your AI tool take place within that tool. AGR does not see the questions you ask or the AI-generated responses you receive.
