Planning a vendor promotion, adding 50% to the original demand

Add a Promotion as a Percentage of Statistical Forecast (Multiple Items at Once)

When you're running a promotion for a vendor's full assortment — or any group of items — you often don't want to plan each item's promotional uplift one by one.

If the promotion is expected to lift sales by a set percentage of each item's own forecast (for example, 50% on top of its Statistical Forecast), you can apply that percentage to every item in the group in one action, using the Sales Plan grid.

This article walks through adding a promotion equal to 50% of Statistical Forecast across multiple items. The same method works for any percentage.

Before you start

  • The period you're planning for must be in the future. The grand total cell (top-left corner of the totals block) is only editable for future periods — if your selected period includes past dates, the last step below won't work.

  • In the Sales Plan grid, make sure the Statistical Forecast, Sales Plan, and Promotions data series are all visible (View Settings → Data Series).

  • Filter the grid down to the items the promotion applies to — for example, all items under a given vendor — and set the Period (View Settings → Filters) to the future weeks or months the promotion runs.

Steps

  1. Filter to your item set and period. In View Settings, filter by whatever grouping fits the promotion (vendor, item group, etc.), and set the Period to a future date range.

  2. Copy Statistical Forecast into the Promotions row. In View Settings → Actions, use Copy Values... to copy the Statistical Forecast values into the Promotions row for your selected items and period. At this point, Promotions equals 100% of Statistical Forecast for each item. Show Image

  3. Confirm the Total row and Total column are showing. With both enabled, the top-left cell of the Promotions total block shows the grand total — Promotions summed across every selected item, for the entire selected period.

  4. Halve that total. Click into the Promotions grand total cell (top-left corner of the totals block), type /2, and press Enter. AGR distributes that operation proportionally across every underlying cell, so each item's Promotions value drops to 50% of what was copied in in step 2 — i.e., 50% of that item's own Statistical Forecast. The split between items is preserved; you're scaling the whole selection down together, not editing item by item.

Result

Every item in your selection now has a Promotions value equal to 50% of its own Statistical Forecast for the period you selected, set in a few clicks instead of item-by-item.

Tips

  • For a different percentage, change the math in the total cell — /4 for 25% of Statistical Forecast, *1.5 for a 150% uplift instead of a reduction, and so on.

  • If the total cell won't accept your entry, check that the selected period is entirely in the future.

  • This scales existing values up or down — it doesn't set a flat number. To give every item the same fixed promotional quantity regardless of its own forecast, enter that number directly instead.
